The SODAS 2123 cultural centre is a self-governing community-based space, operated and curated by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. It brings together creators and researchers from different fields, with practices based on experimentation, developing unexpected formats, and responding to the latest cultural, social, geopolitical and ecological issues.
With over 50 artists’ studios, rehearsing studios for bands, offices for design, film and visual arts organisations, exhibition spaces, event spaces, various workshops, a cafe, a public outdoor garden space, a public allotment, and more, SODAS 2123 provides space for a variety of art and cultural disciplines, and each resident of the complex is open to sharing, learning and craftsmanship.
The SODAS 2123 artist-in-residence programme invites artists, curators, designers, architects, researchers and other creators to become part of the SODAS 2123 community. Programme participants are welcome to initiate event-based programmes, participate in open studios, present the results of their residency in various forms, and become part of the SODAS 2123 community events and the Rasos radio project. The residency is self-curated, and we expect residents to work and develop their artistic projects individually, with the support of the SODAS 2123 team, organising events and presentations of the results or processes of the residency.
SODAS 2123 provides individual rooms and an opportunity to work in a shared studio. Residents are responsible for providing their own equipment and the materials needed for their artistic projects.
DURATION OF THE RESIDENCY:
350 EUR per month: 28-square-metre individual room, with kitchenette and bathroom
300 EUR per month: 27-square-metre individual room, with shared kitchen and bathroom
SODAS 2123 is located in an old school building about 15 minutes’ walk from Vilnius’ Old Town, in a calm and friendly neighbourhood called Rasų kolonija.
