Kira O’Reilly

Kira O’Reilly (b. 1967) is an Irish artist based in Helsinki, her practice, both willfully interdisciplinary and entirely undisciplined stems from a visual art background, it employs performance, installation and sculpture, biotechnical practices and writing with which to consider speculative reconfigurations around The Body. She makes, writes, teaches, mentors and collaborates with humans of various types and technologies and non-humans of numerous divergences. Her practice has developed across several contexts from performance, live art and dance, visual art, to interfaces of art, science and technology.

During the residency Kira will be working on a number of interconnecting ideas that will be cultivated within the architecture and textures of SODAS123. Primarily these will be explored though different experimental drawing techniques that the artist is hoping to develop in some interesting directions. She also hope to produce a series of small drawings based on the ‘Menopausal Gym’, an ongoing project that also has performance and sculpture versions.

This residency is supported by Nordic Council of Ministers and is organised by Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association.

Activities of Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association are funded by Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius municipality.
