Milda Batakytė

Milda Batakytė is a Lithuanian curator who has been based in London, with over 15 years of experience working internationally across museums, commercial galleries, and non-profit art institutions. In 2023, she co-founded Ontrēp with her partner Ben Westoby, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to the project, which operates fluidly across the fields of art and design.

Ontrēp functions as a nomadic platform for presenting work through itinerant exhibitions in various locations. The project invites collaboration across disciplines, fostering international dialogue and expanding the possibilities of curatorial practice.

During her residency at SODAS 2123, Milda will be researching and engaging with the local art and design community in Vilnius.

Milda Batakyte is a Lithuanian curator, currently living and working in London. She is the Exhibition Curator at Auto Italia, a London-based non-profit contemporary art institution dedicated to presenting work engaged with issues of social change. In 2024, Milda founded Ontrēp, an independent art and design advisory. She is the former Acting Director of Rupert, centre for art, residencies & alternative education in Vilnius. In 2019, Milda was appointed as Assistant Curator of the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. In the past, she has assisted the artist Mona Hatoum at her studio in London and gained work experience at White Cube, London; Lisson Gallery, London and Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, among others. Milda received her MFA degree in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London.
