Ingrid Helena Pajo

Ingrid Helena Pajo is a multidisciplinary textile artist whose work bridges the rich traditions of textile craftsmanship with contemporary explorations of material culture and sustainability. Based in Tallinn and Rome, her artistic practice encompasses a range of techniques, including weaving, spinning, and dyeing, alongside an ethos of collecting and repurposing materials. Her installations engage with found and traditional textile materials not only as physical mediums but also as narratives that interrogate and question modern material culture and its impact on the interconnected human and non-human world.

During her residency at SODAS 2123, Ingrid will delve deeper into themes of self-sufficiency and the intrinsic value of hand-making. Her project will weave together insights from the history of textiles and crafts with her personal material experiments, culminating in a series of weavings, writings, and repaired garments. Through this body of work, she aims to underscore the necessity of hands-on creation while reflecting on its cultural and ecological implications.

SODAS 2123 is supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
