Exhibition “Apartment No. 2”

2025-08-22

The exhibition “Apartment No. 2”, curated by Julija Šilytė, a participant of SODAS 2123’s “Beginner Curators’ Platform”, will open on Friday, August 29, at 7 p.m. in the “Borgo” building (formerly the Vilnius College of Finance and Credit, Naugarduko St. 5, Vilnius).

“Apartment No. 2” explores housing not only as a physical structure but also as a space where one decides to linger and settle down. A home is more than a roof over one’s head. It is a place that not only sustains safety, sleep, hygiene, and health, but also shapes identity, safeguards memories, ensures privacy, and nurtures emotional well-being. Home is an existential foundation that enables a person to grow and flourish. It offers space to rest, create, and dream, while also allowing us to experience closeness with ourselves and with others. Yet home can also be fragile: vulnerable not only to physical threats, but to social and economic forces as well.

Artists – Gediminas G. Akstinas, Winnie Herbstein, Laura Lulika, Joey Simons and Keira McLean.

The exhibition will run until September 19.
