Beatričė Zaveckaitė

2025-09-09

We are pleased to introduce the first resident of the autumn season of the SODAS 2123 A-I-R program – contemporary dance artist Beatričė Zaveckaitė.

Beatričė Zaveckaitė graduated in contemporary dance from the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels and is currently developing her creative practice between Lithuania and Belgium. Through somatic movement practices and photography, Beatričė questions normative representations of the human body and searches for a fictional relationship with anatomy that emerges through physical sensations. Her work connects elements of dance, visual arts, and literature, which serve to map bodily memory and cultural associations. At present, she is interested in the theme of the past as a construct of ideological time, the relationship with the world of mythology and customs, and the body’s connection to what is lost, invisible, or moving toward disappearance.

During her residency at SODAS 2123, Beatričė will continue to develop her methodology of creation as “archaeology,” a process of uncovering what has already settled in the body by tracing networks of movements, images, and words without aiming to produce a final product.

The activities of SODAS 2123 are financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius city municipality.
