Aron Fogelström

2026-09-09

Meet Aron Fogelström, the resident of the autumn cycle of the Resistance Song Residency.

Aron Fogelström is an audio-visual artist and filmmaker who works with linguistic science fiction through sound, architecture and speculative storytelling. Working across film, installation, performance and sound, he develops narratives in which voices, bodies and spaces interact within and without language, producing shifting experiences of belonging, disorientation and collective sense-making in contemporary life.

Fogelström graduated from the Royal Institute of Art (KKH) in Stockholm in 2025, where he studied in the professor groups of Ming Wong and later Tris Vonna-Michell. At KKH, he co-taught two courses in sound-based artistic practice (2024 and 2025) together with Stella Dieden Richter under the platform Don’t Bring an Instrument, focusing on experimental approaches to listening, voice and collective sound-making.

During the Resistance Song Residency, Aron will work on a project that aims to challenge the fragmentary, individualistic, and commercial logic that choreographs so much of public space. The artist will explore local traditions of singing and vocalizing together, in both organized and spontaneous forms. Aron will try to see and listen for how these practices can help us collectively reorient ourselves within public spaces, reaching towards a true public space that belongs to us all.

Resistance Song Residency explores the political, social, and affective dimensions of song, examining how collective singing can foster solidarity, healing, and shared ritual. The autumn cycle of the residency is curated by Vaidas Bartušas.

Resistance Song Residency is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture.

SODAS 2123 activities are supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality.
