Ahti & Ahti

Ahti & Ahti are Marja Ahti and Niko-Matti Ahti, two sound artists based in Finland, working in composition, installation and performance. The duo combines field recordings with electronic and acoustic sound. Recordings of spaces and events are carefully aligned in an associative way. Intuitively tuned sustained tones and shapes visit the frame, often on the brink of collapse, collision or feedback. Both artists have made music for a long time in different constellations and are currently part of the Himera work group organizing concerts in Turku, Finland.
At Sodas 2123 Ahti & Ahti will work on new material for their third album. They will gather field recordings in Dzūkija (with the collaboration of Verpėjos Residency) and compose, as well as prepare a performance that will take place at SODAS 2123 on 26th of June.

This residency is curated by Sholto Dobie.

This residency is supported by Nordic Council of Ministers and is organised by Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association.

Activities of Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association are funded by Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius municipality.
