Meet Julia Constance Wiger-Nordås, the resident of the autumn cycle of the Resistance Song Residency.
Julia Constance Wiger-Nordås is an experimental composer and artist from Bergen in Norway. She leans into intuition, texture blocks, and radicality. Julia composes handwritten music, creates concerts with silence, writes poetic text, performs with secrets, and sings at sacred painting exhibitions. Her practice lives in sketches and longing and veils. Current themes are poetic qualities of the skin and touching the invisible.
During the Resistance Song Residency, Julia will explore how singing is visceral and intimate: a way of approaching the inner core and encountering the unveiled and raw. Her research will dwell on how the act of singing can fracture the protective surfaces of the body and the self, revealing vulnerability as a space for connection, transformation, and true beauty.
Resistance Song Residency explores the political, social, and affective dimensions of song, examining how collective singing can foster solidarity, healing, and shared ritual. The autumn cycle of the residency is curated by Vaidas Bartušas.
Resistance Song Residency is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture.
SODAS 2123 activities are supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius City Municipality
