Performing Arts Workshop: Expressing Personal Experience on Stage | BLOSSOM

The series of workshops of the cultural educational project “Blossom” continues with a performing arts workshop led by artists Greta Štiormer and Kristina Švenčionytė, taking place on November 25-27, at the FAMM cultural space, located at SODAS 2123.

The workshop of Kristina Švenčionytė, on November 25th:

During the workshop, the participants will be introduced to different ways of expression in contemporary performing arts and interdisciplinary approaches to art. The audience will be encouraged to go deeper into their lived experiences and use them to come up with a method of their own textual expression. During the workshop the participants will also try to find their authentic voice, their way of writing, learn how to manage stage fright and anxiety, unlock hidden, unspoken emotions and to convey them by creating a distinctive form of monologue.

Kristina Švenčionytė is a performance artist and an actress, who created over 30 roles in theatre and cinema, participated in international projects, and appeared on many stages abroad. She is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Contemporary Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she is exploring audiovisual art, combining sculpture (installation), text, its sonic expression and the presence of her body.

The workshop of Greta Štiormer on November 26th:
There are a million forms in which text can take shape – a letter, a monologue, a Faceboook message, an emoji symbol, a manifesto, a dialogue… Every text begins with an idea which is then written down differently. This workshop will help delve deeper into how text operates in a performative context – it seems the text performed on stage receives a kind of body. During the workshop participants will look for ways these textual manifestos can be expressed in space. Music, body, visuals and atmosphere will all be used to physically embody the essence of the words.

Greta Štiormer is a theatre and opera director, interdisciplinary artist and educator. As a graduate in theatre directing, her practice focuses on performative sound and experimenting with theatrical forms and concepts. Having started her career as a pianist, Greta now works in theatre, contemporary opera and interdisciplinary fields. She has presented her works both in Lithuania and abroad. Greta is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Contemporary Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

During the workshops finale (27 November) the participants will present a short stage performance based on the knowledge gained from the lecturers. We therefore recommend that the participants attend all three days of the workshop.
