VILMA BADER INSTALLATION
Now and Then weaves together histories, stories, rituals and memories to expand on broader ideas around communal life and cultural and historical heritage. It is an immersive exploration, an active but non-intrusive attempt towards an archaeology of ‘place’. The work culminates in a wall installation, consisting of an assemblage of minimal paintings reflecting on the locality of a specific place. There are in addition two large felt banners expressing polar opposite psychological statements inviting us to consider the psychology of place. How do places shape our state of mind? How do we impact them?
Flâneur is a French term meaning ‘stroller’ or ‘loafer’ used by nineteenth-century French poet Charles Baudelaire to identify an observer of modern urban life.
