Experimental electronic music and sound art competition for emerging artists.
For the second year in a row, the cultural complex SODAS 2123 and the event series “Method Sound & Silence“ are looking for new sounds. We invite emerging sound artists and experimental musicians to apply and share their work with the wider sound community.
Selected participants will receive professional advice on music expression, performance, publishing and management, as well as a live performance in the cultural complex SODAS 2123 and an honorarium.
We invite emerging artists to be part of the second series of events “Method Sound & Silence“.
Terms and conditions of the competition
The competition is open to young and emerging artists who are new to the creative and/or performing arts.
Participants are invited to submit up to 3 electroacoustic, experimental electronic music or sound art works (max. duration 15 min).
All works must be uploaded to one of the following music listening platforms: Soundcloud / Mixcloud.
The selection process takes place via email: muzika@sodas2123.lt, with a link to the work(s), a short introduction and contact details.
In your artist statement (up to 300 words), please tell us about your work and the music you are sending and, if you have one, include links to your social network profiles.
In the email, please make sure to include your name and phone number.
The link to the work(s), a short description of the participant and contact details should be sent to: muzika@sodas2123.lt by 23:59 Lithuanian time on 30 June.
Commission and selection
The results of the selection will be announced in early July and each selected participant will be contacted personally.
Up to 6 participants will be selected in total.
All selected participants commit to a live performance (10-30 minutes) in the SODAS 2123 cultural complex.
The performances will take place in mid-July.
All selected performers will receive an honorarium for their performances.
Each performer will have the opportunity to prepare for the performance with a curator who is a music professional.
The participants who will perform live at the competition events will be selected by Vladas Dieninis, lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, composer and electronic music performer, Gailė Griciūtė, experimental sound and performance artist, Benas Trakimas, organiser of interdisciplinary art and music events, curator of the competition, and Giedrė Nalivaikaitė, performer, radio host, and communication coordinator.
Who can apply
The competition is aimed at emerging artists who have little experience in creative and/or concert activities.
It is open to creators from various fields (not necessarily related to music) based in Lithuania.
